Microwave response of a chiral Majorana interferometer

چکیده

We consider an interferometer based on artificially induced topological superconductivity and chiral 1D Majorana fermions. The (non-topological) superconducting island inducing the correlations in substrate is assumed to be floating. This allows probing physics of interfering modes via microwave response, i.e., frequency dependent impedance between earth. Namely, charging discharging controlled by time-delayed interference excitations both normal Andreev channels. argue that measurements provide a direct way observe modes.

Majorana qubit rotations in microwave cavities.

Majorana bound states have been proposed as building blocks for qubits on which certain operations can be performed in a topologically protected way using braiding. However, the set of these protected operations is not sufficient to realize universal quantum computing. We show that the electric field in a microwave cavity can induce Rabi oscillations between adjacent Majorana bound states. Thes...

Three-dimensional Majorana fermions in chiral superconductors

Using a systematic symmetry and topology analysis, we establish that three-dimensional chiral superconductors with strong spin-orbit coupling and odd-parity pairing generically host low-energy nodal quasiparticles that are spin-nondegenerate and realize Majorana fermions in three dimensions. By examining all types of chiral Cooper pairs with total angular momentum J formed by Bloch electrons wi...

A Wilson–Majorana Regularization for Lattice Chiral Gauge Theories

We discuss the regularization of chiral gauge theories on the lattice introducing only physical degrees of freedom. This is obtained by writing the Wilson term in a Majorana form, at the expense of the U(1) symmetry related to fermion number conservation. The idea of restoring chiral invariance in the continuum by introducing a properly chosen set of counterterms to be added to the tree level a...

Resonantly tunable Majorana polariton in a microwave cavity.

We study the spectrum of a one-dimensional Kitaev chain placed in a microwave cavity. In the off-resonant regime, the frequency shift of the cavity can be used to identify the topological phase transition of the coupled system. In the resonant regime, the topology of the system is sensitive to the presence of photons in the microwave cavity and, moreover, for a large number of photons (classica...

Microwave Interferometer for Non-destructive Testing

A K-band microwave interferometer for non-destructive sensing of high frequency low amplitude (nm) vibration is demonstrated. This sensor uses direct-conversion receiver architecture with a phase shifter to adjust its sensitivity while varying the target distance. Detection of nanoscale vibration and laser-generated ultrasound waves through thin aluminum plate are measured and then compared wit...
